Environmental Finance: Family office launches biodiversity 'accelerator'
An initiative has been launched to find eight “high-impact”, early-stage companies to tackle the biodiversity crisis in Southeast Asia, with the promise of potential investment.
Silverstrand Capital, a Singapore-based single-family office that describes itself as an impact investor focused on addressing the biodiversity crisis, invited applications to the Biodiversity Accelerator+.
It will target businesses protecting vulnerable landscapes or restoring degraded ones, and businesses addressing barriers to conservation through technology.
The selected companies will receive a three-month programme of support to form development plans. At the end of the programme, participants “can unlock investment of up to $250,000 each and access a wider network of impact investors,” a press release said.
The initiative is supported by the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Mandai Nature, the National University of Singapore’s Centre for Nature-Based Solutions, Temasek Foundation, and UBS Optimus Foundation as a knowledge partner.
